Can anyone explain to me why the speed of accessing anything on the website is so slow. My download speed is constantly in excess of 100 Mbps. Even the initial signing on, which frequently must be completed more than once, takes quite a long time when compared to other websites.

Speeds seem much improved. Don’t have time to make a brew now whilst the website is doings the search!

What’s happened! Getting excellent speeds this morning. Brilliant at last.

I have just posted in another section of the forum and the speed was very good for me.
One thing I have noticed more recently is that I do not seem to be timed out no matter how long I spend on a reply.
The post I refer to above took me about 30 minutes whilst cutting and pasting from an email etc. and I was not timed out at all.

It still seems very slow to me today, especially by comparison with other non Hobby forums that I use

Seems a litter quicker loading the website but no speedier loading the Members Forum or negotiating between the various topics.

Below is an email which was sent to me at 1908 hrs today.
Hopefully, things should be better now.
Let me know here what you think.
Just letting you know the website has just been moved to a new and hopefully faster server space. Please continue to monitor it and I will feedback to the hosting company.
Regarding login problems this is an annoying intermittent issue. There shouldn’t be any need to request to change passwords, as the second attempt always works when I’ve seen this. Again keep me informed on this one.

I have constantly been keeping our website designer aware of this issue throughout.
In view of the last six posts, I did earlier this evening forward the content of all of them to her for comment.
Below is the reply that I received by email at 2207 hrs this evening.
Incidentally, I also received the internal server error at my first attempt posting this message.
Sorry about this. I was aware that the speed issue seemed to be getting worse. As I’ve done everything I can think of, I have now contacted the server support team for advice. I’ll get back to you as soon as I have anything to report. Hopefully we can get this resolved soon.

Bet I was on for ten minutes from start to finish with my last post. Makes you want to give up!
January 13, 2016 at 3:56 pm #2670
Just tried to access the forum from the link in Tony & Gilly’s email regarding the above post but page just showed “Service Error”. Tried again and this time it opened with a login screen and the note “logged out due to inactivity”. When it eventually logged me in it seemed slower than when I originally raised the matter!
January 13, 2016 at 12:58 pm #2669
ive just posted on a different topic and its taken 16 minutes from start to finish to get it on due to being ” logged out due to inactivity ” whilst being active ! …………why dont we just all text each other instead , it would be quicker than this !
January 13, 2016 at 12:36 pm #2667
2 attempts to sign in , incredibly slow and then whilst actively moving around the site got this message ” logged out due to inactivity ” ???

login problems and site response still slow
January 7, 2016 at 10:30 am #2651
Just signed in to view the Aires petition and was immediately logged out due to inactivity!
By the way, the site seems as slow as ever. Submitting this message took some time to upload.

I have just read this email as sent to me yesterday the content of which I shall paste below.
It does make sense to me and does seem to be fixed. I previously logged in as Christine and on that occasion it was first attempt.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time on this and I think there is definitely a speed improvement. Unfortunately the pages load fastest when not logged in because that is what is called static content. For dynamic content available in the members area (ie. when logged in) it is not quite as fast, (but still better) because content has to be refreshed before appearing on screen. eg. forum and other info in the members area which is updated more often. So if you want to check something quickly on the site that is not in the members area, don’t log in.
Another issue is that there are a LOT of photos in the gallery area on the site. I have made sure that all the images have been resized and optimized for the web, and are therefore taking up much less server space than if uploaded direct from camera.
I noticed that that there have also been quite a lot of hacking attempts on the site. This is not unusual and I have increased security by using a plugin called Wordfence which allows us to monitor and block hacking attempts more closely. Hacking attempts do have an impact on speed of pages loading.
Finally I have installed a new login plugin which I hope will resolve the double logging in issues you have been having. The plug in was not free unfortunately, it cost £8.00 but adds quite a few extra features. The previous one was older and I think there were conflicts with the newer versions of WordPress. I’ll add that to the next invoice so no rush.
I hope that resolves things for now, so do let me know.
All the best for 2016!

Two attempts for me and always has been that way.
December 23, 2015 at 1:25 pm #2640
its still 2 attempts for me and still slow
December 21, 2015 at 10:47 am #2635
Thanks again for that Mike. It does seem to have slowed again today. I have forwarded your post to our provider and I am awaiting a response.
Incidentally, I can log in first time every time but Christine regularly needs two attempts.

Sorry David. The initial access to the site seems no better, as is the member’s logging on screen, but once the forum is eventually accessed the speed does seem a lot better negotiating around the various posts. I would also add that I do seem to have to log on twice as it does not seem to recognise my initial attempt.

I had been experiencing the same problem with speed but assumed it was at my end.
Following member comments on the most recent meet and the two comments above, I decided to log a complaint with our provider.
I received a reply at 0026 hrs this morning to say the problem was now resolved.
I must say it does seem back to normal again.
Give it a try and let me know.
