We love our Hobby Van but it is now very nearly 9 years old and has done over 36,000 miles. We bought it when it was 3 years old and had only done 10,000 miles.

It is ideal for us; layout, size, decor etc. Lovely!

The only problem is that we have been warned that it will be very difficult to part-ex when 10 years old and we also know that there certain milestones in the mileage to be considered (although we don’t know what they are!).

As it is our first van, we are fairly ignorant about the whole process and would appreciate any advice our fellow Hobbyists could give us.

Should we carry on and run it as long as possible (taking into account that neither of us are handy and are both incapable of fixing any problems), or when would be a good time to try to find a replacement?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

    Jean & Mike.

Thanks Dave for your good wishes – and for your very helpful advice before we bought our new (to us) van.

Don’t know if we should mention the tights and tennis balls as we may yet patent this travelling drawer closure device!!

Yes, we think we will continue to enjoy our Hobbying.

      How bizarre.
There was only one in the country that matched your description and it was withdrawn from sale the day after you viewed it.
You should no longer need the tights and tennis balls, perhaps you could explain for the benefit of others.
Hope you both have as much pleasure from this Hobby as you obviously did have with the previous one.
      Wishing you good luck.

Please ignore all the above everybody – we have a new (to us) van now. Still a Hobby though!
