A few days ago I sent the e mail below. I now realise that as a new
member I am not sure the correct route to send such an e mail so
copying it and using this route is my Plan B.Dear Jean
We have never met but I am writing to you as I see you are currently
the Chair of the Hobby Owners Club UK. We have recently changed our
motorhome for a Hobby and so have joined your Club.I am not sure if there are already any plans for meets this year but I
would like to put forward a suggestion for you and your Committee to
consider. In the last few years Steve and I have attended the Malvern Show, that
this year is 14 – 16 August. I wondered if your members would be
interested in having a Hobby Owners area. Steve and I would be
prepared to organise this and go up on the Thursday to mark out the
pitches and maybe organise a bring your own BBQ (if that was something
people might enjoy) at some point during the weekend. The show has
lots of evening entertainment for those that enjoy its Western theme,
this doesn’t float our boat(!) but a glass of wine and relaxed
chatting does. You will know your members well and you may know that this is not the
sort of thing they enjoy or would choose to attend. We will not be the
least offended if you come back to us and say ‘thanks but no thanks’
as we will go anyway and pitch with one of the big clubs. If you think members may be interested they have to pay and book
direct with Warners. On booking you have to indicate which club you
are affiliated to, so no booking should be made until a club area has
been agreed. We would be prepared to sort this out with WarnersI am hoping that this suggestion doesn’t sound too pushy, if it does,
I apologise. Now off to Bristol to help our daughter put together some Ikea flat
pack……………….the never ending joys of being a parent.Best wishes
Maureen and Steve Tofts
