I didn’t have a recal letter but was informed that all models with this window are affected. I followed the advice on the Motorhome Fun website and contacted a lady called Liz and Hobby UK. She arranged for National windscreen to come to my house to re-fit the window

My van has now been sorted by two excellent fitters from National windscreens, Chris and John. They removed the window and re-fitted it and said that the glue was degrading so it was only a matter of time before it came out. They said it was not just Hobby that had this problem but they had seen it in similar windows fitted on other manufacturers vans and was due to the wrong adhesive being used. This was earlier this week and we have had heavy rain since then and all seems to be OK.

      good luck

We have a 2013 Premium Van and are on our third over cab skylight. The first (original) one allowed water to creep in between the two acrylic surfaces. I could see the water moving about but it never came into the vehicle. The replacement skylight ballooned in the moderate heat of autumnal France. On return to the van I attempted to cover the skylight with the blind and was surprised to discover that it collided with a bulge that had not been there before. I removed one of the little stoppers at the corner of the skylight, and pressurised air escaped. The bulge was reduced but the window did not return to its intended profile. Both of these skylights were replaced under warranty. I have permanently removed one of the stoppers in my third skylight, although the material and design appear to have improved. I’m not sure if the same thing could happen, but I won’t take the risk.

Our previous Hobby Van (which we sold in May) got a recall from Hobby, Germany. It took many weeks to arrive as it had only part of our address and the wrong postcode.

I (Jean) am not the first registered keeper but the third.

We were instructed to ring Richard Thompson and John Hindle which we did; left messages but neither replied. Maybe they didn’t think it necessary as the message we left informed them who we had sold the Van to.

Hobby’s original covering letter said that the problem was with panoramic roof windows fitted 2007 to 2012. In a small number of cases the adhesive has become loose which might cause the window to become detached. In the short term the advice was to refrain from driving at high speed until a check has been made.

      Hope this helps.

      Hello again Jim,
The majority of models with an overcab skylight, BUILT (not registered) between 2007 and 2012 are affected.
The person to speak to is Richard Thompson at Hobby UK.
You will need to provide your complete VIN when making an enquiry regarding this recall.

      Hello Jim,
Your van may be affected by this recall.
Hobby (Germany) have been contacting the first registered keeper of all affected vans by post.
I am certain that you are the first registered keeper / owner of your van and as such should have beeen contacted if it is affected.
There is another route to take which is contacting a person whos name escapes me at the moment, at Hobby UK but I can assure you that the person dealing with this matter is NOT John Hindle.
I will post again shortly when I have the correct name to hand.
Incidentally, I am sure that this same question has already been asked in a previous post on this forum.
      Dave
