    Hello to all members,

Whilst on site recently at Lincoln Motorhome Show we were visited by the owners of The Lawns camping site at Lowgate, Fleet, Lincolnshire, PE12 8LN who have extended to us a very special offer until the end of 2015, the offer being £12.00 per night per unit to include electric hook up. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=14164 Please ignore the reference to 5 van site. We will be pitched together on one of their many rally areas.

Our club stayed on this site about 3 years ago and we were made very welcome. It is a well laid out site with outstanding facilities and during our previous stay the owners prepared us a Hog Roast to be consumed in the comfort of the barn which was followed by a desert to die for.

Although this site is a Caravan Club Certificated site the invite from the owners to our club means that you do not have to be a Caravan Club member to attend. Be assured, there is ample room to accommodate everyone. It is not only a five van site.

Spalding and Kings Lynn are within easy travelling distance and there is a bus route external to the site. Lincoln is a one hour drive. Hopefully, the Christmas markets will be in full swing during our stay. http://www.springfieldsshopping.co.uk 9 miles away also sounds an interesting place to visit, as is Long Sutton village, 3 miles, a pleasant village suitable for basic food needs (Co-op), Post Office, Bakery, craft, charity, coffee shops and pubs.

I am proposing that we have our Christmas get together there arriving anytime from Tuesday 1st December and leaving anytime up until the morning of Tuesday 8th December 2015, a total of 7 nights stay.
It was also suggested by the owners that they could prepare us a meal again, perhaps this time with a Christmas theme, the exact menu being of our choosing, obviously to be agreed beforehand.

If anyone is interested in joining us here, for the pre Christmas get together, please express your interest by replying to this post. Stay for just a few days or the full seven days, the choice is yours but if we are to plan a meal together, then I would propose it would be on the evening of Saturday 5th December or indeed a Sunday lunch on the 6th. Please indicate your preference in your reply.

Ideally, I would like to be able to confirm numbers attending by Saturday 31st October 2015.

A provisional enquiry today reveals that a 2 course Christmas Fayre (Turkey / Pork) plus desert and coffee with mince pies to follow, would be £14.50 per head. We would also propose having a midweek meal one spare evening at the local Chinese restaurant, which is within walking distance, where as I remember the ‘eat as much as you like buffet’ was about £14 per head on the last visit.

    Hope to see you there.

Our Christmas meet was certainly a cracker. Even the weather didn’t stop us from getting out and about.
Most vans had arrived by Tuesday and four more new vans on Friday. It was great to meet some of our newest members, Keith and Clair, Ronnie, Keith and Margaret, Andy and Denise, Tony and Gilly and Peter and Jacqui and they have all said they will look forward to seeing us again next year.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE, your company made this meet such a success.
Thanks also to our resident musicians John, Kenn and Keith for entertaining us on Friday night, accompanied also by the percussion section. (Wind and barn door)
As for our actual Christmas meal prepared by Tracy and Nigel from The Lawns, well what can I say, a banquet fit for a king, and a hungry one at that.
Real Turkey and Pork roasted to perfection and an assortment of enough veg. and condiments to sink Santa’s sleigh, but then the puddings………Lemon meringue pie about 2 feet high, Chocolate Mousse tart, Treacle Sponge and Custard, Toffee Pavlova, and Orange Trifle dusted in Gold. All made by hand in Tracy’s kitchen. Boy can she cook!!!! A glass of wine with the meal, provided by our club, finishing off with the obligatory mince pies with brandy butter and coffee.
Thanks again to all who supported The Lawns meet.

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HOBBY NEW YEAR

Just thought we should post that the Coleman side walls have arrived and we will bring them (and the Shelter) along next week

We may want to set it all up – depends on how close we are to the Barn, whether we have exclusive use and how many of us are willing to brave the easterly winds

We will be arriving on Wednesday & leaving on Monday

      Reallylookingforwardtomeetingup

      Kenn, Sue & Louis

Ps – must wish Tony all the best with his hospital stay – do let us know how he is Pam – we’ll drink to you both round the camp fire

I should have mentioned somewhere earlier in this post but I did receive a telephone call from Pat and Eric who were struggling to access the forum to say they will also be attending.

No, it is not too late.
Christmas fayre arrangements don’t need to be finalised until I arrive on site next Tuesday.

Oh dear, not good but that means more ‘pies’ for us. Ha Ha.
      Do keep in touch.
For the benefit of recent members we should explain that Tony is the club pie connoisseur.

      Christine,

Sadly some thing has come up,  and we will not be able to make the pre christmas meet at Spalding.

I hope this will not cause you any grief with the arrangements.

We will make more effort to be at the next one!

I have notified you via the “contact us”  link  also , just in case

Hi and thanks to everyone who has responded so far.
Although I suggested a decision date of 31st October, don’t worry there is still time to confirm your attendance if you would like to join us.
It would seem that the majority of respondents would prefer a Sunday Lunchtime for the Christmas Fayre.
The owners of the site did ask me to confirm that choice a few days before we arrive.
In reply to Paul above, the Chinese ‘night out’ won’t be decided until we get to The Lawns.

      Sorry if this appears twice

We will be there , and will go with the flow on meal dates etc.

might not stay the whole week but will sort out arrival leaving days once we know meal dates

Yes Ed and Vera, what a great idea for us all to display our baubles and twinklies.
I shall now rummage round in the loft for two hours.
Hope that everyone else can make the effort.

I don’t think we need to check with the site owners but as with barbeques, if it is your intention to ‘light up’ your van then please ensure it is raised off the ground on four bricks.

      Hi Christine & Dave,

We look forward to meeting up with members at “The Lawns” for the Christmas meet.

We are happy to go with the flow as far as the meals are concerned.

Some years ago we always made an effort to light up our vans for the Christmas “do”

Might we revive this with the permission of the owners of the site?

      See you there.

      Ed. & Ve.

You can count both myself and JC in. Hope the same waiter is still there (No problem). Would prefer the Christmas meal on the dinner time but no deal breaker for us. I will bring the hammer and chisel in case Joan hasn’t had her hip done, someone else can bring the Ibrufen!
