Below is the letter we sent to the Committee yesterday……..
Dear Nick, Ruth, Peter and CommitteeThis week Warners sent out an email to nominated Club Marshals updating where they are with their plans for Motorhome Shows this year. They appear to be making cancellation decisions about one month in advance of each date, so far no shows have taken place. Currently the plans for Peterborough, 31 July to 2 August, are as scheduled although they have now put bookings for this “on hold”. Whilst our Peterborough event won’t be able to run with our usual entertainment, we are hopeful we can open an exhibition area for day visitors and offer “wild camping” for those looking for a getaway”.
Steve and I have talked about this and the implications for the S.W. Motorhome Show at Shepton Mallet, 11-13 September, and have decided to withdraw our offer to Marshall a Hobby Club area. Two interacting factors influenced our decision: With no entertainment, limited commercial traders and wild camping only, there is too little to draw members down to the South West. The Hobby AGM meet along with the meet the following week, means that the club has provided two weeks of opportunity for members to meet up in September.
When we first suggested Shepton, of course, the AGM and subsequent meets were in mid summer, so September was ‘void’. We had planned to add another week to Shepton in the locality but COVID, naturally, has effected the “best laid plans of mice and men”. Any member who has already booked for the S.W. Show can contact Warners and get a refund if they choose not to attend. Lets all hope we can start to get the wheels of our vans rolling again and enjoy the freedom and adventure this brings.
Best wishes. Maureen and SteveA get together at a Show was just not meant to be this year but we hope to see a lot of you at the AGM meet.
