    Hi there,

I’m a fairly new member and haven’t managed to participate in any meets yet but hopefully in the future my health will once again allow this. Can anyone spread a bit of light (pun) on my lighting problem. It is a bit weird in that I cannot turn them OFF! The lighting panel is all electronic with a number of labelled push areas on it, which click when pressed. I haven’t been able to get a few of the ambient light strips to work on this panel for some time and I noticed in the manual that there is a section on the topic that all vehicles are equipped for measuring illumination where all the lights will be switched on.The manual then goes on to give specific instructions on how to switch on and switch off this function. It is quite specific and vague at the same time.

I managed successfully to switch all lights on and noted that every light worked and the illumination level was pretty spectacular but when I came to switch the programme off – the instruction given did not work. I’ve now tried this so often that I think that I’ve broken the panel but regardless of this I’ve now spent one night sleepless trying to sleep in a very bright environment and now facing another night where I’m going to have to take the fuses out to get a semi darkness where I can sleep.

Can anybody help on this or had a similar problem which they solved.

      Hi Bruce,

Sorry to hear that you are still having problems. I was just looking at the Hobby handbook here in the tech. section. I agree the info to turn the automatic “all lights” function off is confusing as there is no identification of what the power button 1 +2 actually means. Obviously the 4th button on the top row is the entrance light button referred to. Have you tried various combinations of other buttons then the long press on the entrance light button? Just a thought before you go down the route of an auto electrician etc.

My MH is a 2014 Premium Van on a Renault, so may be slightly different so I am reticent to try this auto light function out in case it turns all my lights on forever! My own experience with a main dealer on electronics was equally unsatisfactory and they resulted in getting an independent auto electrician to sort a problem after 3 attempts.

I did have an issue on one occasion where lights were coming on without being switches, eventually I discovered water was getting blown in through the fridge vent and found its way into the electrical lockers under the fridge and oven. It was shorting out the lighting panel. Once dried out everything worked as normal again. Just a thought.

Hope you manage to get things sorted.

      Regards

      Peter

      <div>Hi Peter,</div>
      <div></div>
<div>Thanks for the response but I have tried all these and in fact gone a little further in that I have removed the panel, pulled out the 2 multiplug connectors and removed the battery and left it for about 5 minutes. This had no effect at all.</div>
<div>I’ve contacted Hartley’s in Ellesmere Port (where I bought the M/H) and the only suggestion that they had was to press the back button. I suppose helpful in a negative sense but I would have expected more from them!</div>
<div>To get some sleep I have now resorted to pulling out selected fuses to switch off the lights.</div>
<div>I’m sure it will resolve itself in time but a lot of effort has to be put into it seems especially as Hobby doesn’t seem to have the expertise to solve it themselves. It also doesn’t help being based in Sussex where it seems to be a desert as far as electronic experts who have experience in motorhome systems.</div>
<div>Anyway thanks for your suggestions, anything else will be very welcome.</div>
      <div></div>
      <div></div>
      <div>Best regards,</div>

      Hi Bruce,

i am no expert and have not had this issue with my MH, but have you tried switching the panel off by pressing on the on- off button for a few seconds until the indications go out. This might reset the panel. Another suggestion might be to remove the face plate to get to the internal battery, then remove the battery for 30 seconds or so to let the panel memory go. Then refit the battery and see if that has helped. The removal of the control unit battery procedure is in the manual I seem to remember.

      Hope that helps.

      Regards

      Peter
