A few days ago we ordered 15cm deep memory foam mattresses for our 2013 Premium Van and immediately faced the problem of dimensions. The shape of the mattresses in the Premium Van is far from uniform, and are not even the same length. Despite my attempt at measuring, and making templates, we were not confident that “made to measure” mattresses would fit properly. I asked the Parts Dept at Ambergate if they had any official measurements but they were unable to help. I then called John Hindle (Trade Sales Manager for Hobby UK, who was a guest speaker at the Ambleside AGM) to ask if he could obtain templates from Hobby, Germany, or at least some official dimensions. This morning I was very pleasantly surprised to receive an email from John Hindle with a couple of detailed technical drawings of all the dimensions and angles for our van’s mattresses. I passed these drawings on to Duvalay, who will now begin production.

Big thanks to John Hindle and Hobby. I will report later on how the mattresses turn out.

We returned today from the Malvern Show where we used our new Duvalay mattresses for the first time. I am happy to report that the new memory foam mattresses lived up to our expectations and, despite getting up at around 06:00 every day (we never had to queue for the showers!) they ensured very comfortable and restful nights. I think I was able to move a little bit easier on getting up – but perhaps that was just the optimist in me. We certainly do not regret the change.
