It is with great sadness that I have to report the death of one of the founder members of our Association, Denis Kearns. I confirmed this by speaking with his Daughter Sally, today. Denis passed away on the 9th December after many months of deterioration, being a shadow of his former self. He was 89 years old and I will always remember him for his wit and charm. He made a great News Editor for our magazine producing news and laughter out of ‘no news’.
Denis and his late wife Audrey made every rally that was possible and joined in with the socialising, Audrey with her singing and Denis with his music. We have lost many stars this past year and in my eyes Denis was one of the brightest. Our thoughts and best wishes I passed on to his remaining family.
Wish I could write it better. Tony Charity

May Ed. And I add our condolences to the list of Hobby members who will miss lovely Dennis.
Dennis and Audrey were both great Hobbyists who always added lots of life and joy to the club.
Being a man of many talents not only with his musicality (no sheet music for this man) but also his
achievements in his businesses. He once told Ed his company, or one of them, was responsible for the
building of the Bagdad Water works and after it was bombed in the war he said “maybe we will get the
chance to do it all over again”.
Dennis never seemed to get over Audrey’s demise. So together once again – fly high as in life.

It is with sadness that after the Christmas holidays I learned of the death of one of the founder members of our association, Dennis Kearns.
Such a lovely, charismatic, jovial and talented man, who would have been a great asset to any organisation.
We were the fortunate ones, for in the early days, with few members and no funds, he was always ready and willing to put his hand in his pocket to progress the club.
He will be especially remembered for the joke filled newsletter that he produced for many of our earlier years.
Rest in peace Dennis, with Audrey.
Sadly missed but always fondly remembered.
